[1] On the Net by David LeBlanc
IMPORTANT NOTICE: (that's for you guys that skip this but of rambling
for the juicy stuff later on) Next weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I
will make every attempt to have an issue out but it will be later than
usual. I am having company for the weekend and my brother is being
ordained a Catholic priest on Saturday and saying his first mass on
Sunday. Most of the issue is compiled during the week, but lots of final
touch up, the late breaking news, and the posting of changes to the web
page and uploading of files prior to actually mailing out the issue does
not start until Friday night. If I run short of time it will be squeezed
in when I find time over the weekend, and may not be until Monday
afternoon after I get back from the airport. Just so you guys don't
start sending me worried notes about where the next issue is. I am real
proud to have gotten this far with a good on time record, but as I said
when I started the goal here is quality, and enough material to make it
worth your time (and mine).
I now have a new batch of SUSPENDED ANIMATION columns from Michael Vance
to run the next few issues. Joe Torres has his Recommended Reading
column this time around and Matt High's extremely late Top 200 comics
(excluding Marvel) for April finally came out. Speaking of columns, CBN
guru Mike Imboden is near the end of the school year and threatens to
invade these pages with his famous ramblings once again. Speaking of
invasions, Marvel is making a slow start on the World Wide Web with an
Onslaught page, complete with Shockwave movies. You can find the URL in
this issue or just click the ROGUE picture on our Web page LINKS area at
http://members.aol.com/ComicBkNet. Speaking of Nintendo (I know we
weren't, just seeing if you are paying attention) the new 64 bit system
will premier the new TUROK video game as a new comic series launches from
Acclaim as well this September.
I am really jazzed by the Kingdom Come series! It is everything I
expected and has a few little touches I hadn't expected. It was my pick
of the week last week and already I am panting for the next issue. THAT
is the sign of a truly good comic, in my book. I also managed to find
some BONE chromium cards from the first series (the only collection of
cards I own) and all I need now is C3, and the 3 card subset as I already
have a medallion card. Anyone got these 4 to sell? Bobb mentions Dr.
Who, and I thought that was a pretty ok movie for tv. Gotta catch the
X-Files tonight. Lois and Clark bothered me, I don't like season ending
cliff hangers.
Not much else to say but be patient next weekend and fire up those
barbecues. I hope I survive it - if you knew my family (5 brothers and 2
sisters and Dad) you would know why I have my doubts.:)
